Funeral services for Clarence M. Lackore, 94, of Forest City, were held at 1:30 p.m. February 12 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City with the Rev. John Hieronymus and the Rev. Ole Winter officiating. Burial was in the Madison Township Cemetery. Mr. Lackore died Sunday, Feb. 9, at a Forest City nursing home.

He was born October 15, 1891 at Hayfield to Charles and Mathilda (Johnson) Lackore. He received his education in public schools in Hayfield, attended Waldorf College in Forest City and a former junior college in Charles City.

During World War I he served with the U.S. Army and later returned to Hayfield and started farming. He also worked as a cashier in the Hayfield bank, which was operated by his father. In 1923 he was married to Pearl Toppen. They continued to farm near Hayfield until retiring in 1945. She died in 1960.

On August 11, 1963, he married Mabel May Taylor Abbott. They continued to make their home in Hayfield until moving to Forest City in 1973.

He was a member of the Garner American Legion and the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Forest City.

He was a member of Gifford Olson Post No. 256 American Legion, for 66 consecutive years and was one of the charter members.

Survivors include his wife, Mabel Mae Lackore; one step-daughter, Mrs. James (Marian) Narveson, Santa Clara, Calif.; one stepson, Marvin Abbott, Forest City; three sisters, Mrs. John (Mabel) Kester, Forest City, Mrs. Sylvia Sorensen, Forest City, and Pearl Lackore, Newton, Kan.; two brothers, Norman and Clayton, both of Forest City; eight step-grandchildren and one step-greatgrandchild.
