Services for A.W. "Jeff" Rensink, 82, of Hayfield, who died Monday, Sept. 10, 1990 at Concord Manor Care Center in Garner, were held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 13 at the United Methodist Church in Crystal Lake with Rev. Ted Stowers as officiant.

Mrs. Kathi Nelson, organist, accompanied soloist, Warren Torkelson. Members of the River City Barbershop Chorus also sang.

Casket bearers were Glen R. Jacobson, Ben Baker, Jim Nelson, John Kester, Syl Malek, Glenn Johnson, Pete K. Lewerke and Cal Sorenson.

Burial was in Madison Township Cemetery in Forest City. Graveside military rites were conducted by the American Legion Post #409 of Crystal Lake. Visitation was held at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

A.W. "Jeff' Rensink was born on a farm near Matlock on August 7, 1908, the son of Ben and Clara (Terbeest) Rensink. He attended school in Archer. April 10, 1941 he was married to Mabel Earp at Crystal Lake United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Air. Force from 1942-1945, first as a glider pilot and then as a Sargent in the 13th Security Section. He was on duty to receive the message that the first atomic bomb had been dropped. He served in the Pacific Theater and received three battle stars.

Jeff and Mabel have made their home in Hayfield for their entire lives. Jeff was self-employed as a plumber and electrician, working on many area construction projects. He was a member of the Crystal Lake United Methodist Church, a member for 35 years of the Barbershop Chorus, mostly in Mason City, a member of the Methodist Builders Club and was a certified lay speaker in the Methodist Church, and a member of American Legion Post 409.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel, of Hayfield; a sister, Edith Rensink of Alexandria, MN; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Florence Rensink of Alexandria, MN; 3 nephews; and 2 nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mina VanDenhull; and a brother, Bernard Rensink.
