Virgil G. Young Funeral Services Held at Stratford
Funeral services for the late Virgil G. Young, 62, of Waukee, a former Stratford resident, were held this Monday, Feb. 16, at the Stratford Baptist Church at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Harold Richardson in charge. Burial was at the Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr. Young, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jonas [Hilda Christina Bocklund] Young, was born Aug. 23, 1907 in Hamilton County, and died Feb. 13, 1970, at the Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, where he had been a patient for nine days. He was married to Zetta [Snyder] Black in May 1952.
Survivors include his widow, Zetta; 3 children, George Young of Grant City, Mo., Jim Young of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Robert (Joyce) Overholtzer of Leominster, Mass.; 5 step-children, Clarence Black of Grant City, Mo., Mrs. Ben Barber of Milwaukee, Wis., Mrs. J.M. Lee, High Point, N.C., Mrs. Dale Becker of Waukee, and Mrs. Bohn of Los Angeles, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; 5 brothers, Edward Young of Stanhope, and Wallace, Floyd, Arthur and Oscar of Stratford; 2 sisters, Mrs. Bernice Benedict of San Bernardino, Calif., and Mrs. Alva Simonson of Stratford.
Mr. Young was preceded in death by his parents.
