Oscar J. Young, 72, Bentonville, Ark., a former Stratford resident, died Nov. 13, 1983, at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines. He was born Sept. 1, 1911, in Stratford, the son of Jonas and Hilda (Bocklund) Young. He married Mabel Christina Lundy, Sept. 2, 1936, at Webster City.
Young farmed in the Stratford area for 40 years, and moved to Bentonville in 1977. He was a member of the Masonic Acorn Lodge 601.
He was preceded in death by his wife, one sister, four brothers.
Survivors include two sons, Richard of New Hartford and Jon of Stanhope; one daughter, Judith Cramer, Des Moines; one sister, Dora Simonson and one brother Arthur, both of Stratford; six grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday at the Stratford Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Haring officiating. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
