Stratford Courier, Stratford, Iowa
November 8, 1917Thursday morning Miss Kitty Williams was suddenly stricken down at her home here with paralysis. And a few minutes after noon she passed away. She was apparently in the best of health and at the time she was stricken was on her way to her work.
"God touched him with His finger and he slept," the poet wrote. So may we say of this dear life - "God touched her with His finger and she slept," but not until a beautiful life was lived, a ? example of patience, ? to truth and faith were given. Not until visions of a heavenly life, in Christ Jesus, had cheered and illuminated the valley of the shadow. And now, that she sleeps, memory takes up the harp of life, and smiting the strings, thus that her virtues melt into music. So is ever is when a life is nobly and divinely lived.
Life will never be quite the same to those who knew her, while those who were nearest to her will long for her with unutterable longings - long for a sister's counsel and advise, and a sister's gentle and loving sympathy. She was a woman of strong Christian character, patient, loving and self-sacrificing.
The funeral was held Sunday from the local M.E. church and the remains laid to rest in Oakwood cemetery.
Christine Williams was born near Sheridan, Illinois, April 6, 1873, and her soul took its flight from Stratford, Iowa November 1, 1917. She was reared in a Christian home by Christan parents, and from early youth displayed a tender heart full of sympathy and love. In the spring of 190? she with her sisters came to ? ? for her home. During special meetings during the following winter she ? consecrated her Christian life and became a member of the M.E. church here, to which she remained faithful until her death. Her Bible was her most beloved Book. She read it daily and from it seemed to gain strength for her day's trials. She leaves to mourn her departure, five sisters, three brothers, other relatives and a host of friends. Her father, mother and three brothers have preceded her to the Great Beyond.Card of Thanks
