Obituary

THOS. SOLBRACK

Thomas Solbrack, longtime resident of Jewell passed away at his home there May 17. He had suffered several strokes during the past three years and death was caused by a heart ailment.

Funeral services were held on Monday at the Bethesda Lutheran church preceded by a brief prayer service at the Becker funeral home at 1:30. Rev. L. F. Schele, pastor of Bethesda, officiated. Mr. Emmett Olson sang two songs at the service accompanied by Mrs. Harry Harman at the organ.

Burial was made in Evergreen cemetery. Pallbearers were: Carl Martin, Ralph Draper, Jens Christensen, Henry Gabrielson, Lloyd Walker and J. DeVere Kahl.

Thomas J. Solbrack, son of Martin and Alice Solbrack, was born Feb. 10, 1890 at McCallsburg, and passed away May 16, 1952, at the age of 62 years, 3 months, 5 days.

Mr. Solbrack had lived in Jewell for 25 years, having also resided at Story City 2 years and at Stanhope 11 years, as well as several years near McCallsburg.

He was united in marriage to Mabel Thorsbakken at Story City, Dec. 5, 1912. Seven children, six of whom survive, were born to this union. The surviving children are Alice (Mrs. Ray) Noyes of Sonoma, Calif.; Irene (Mrs. Don) Eggland of Roland; Orlin of Albert Lea, Minn.; Clare of Plaza, Wash.; Walter of Cherokee; and Dencil of Napa, Calif. One daughter, Clara Amelia, died at the age of 2. Mr. Solbrack is also survived by his wife, Mabel, and 7 grandchildren as well as several sisters and brothers, Amanda Rifen of Iowa Falls and Alma Hohnson, Rosie Braland, Johanna Pehrson, Caroline Herlam and Olive Hudson, all of Minnesota, and Alfred, John, Magnus and Joseph Solbrack, also of Minnesota.

Three of the sons could not be here for the funeral. Dencil and family were unable to be here, having just returned to their home after a months visit here; Walter is ill at Cherokee and Clare had sickness in his family.
