Jesse Benjamin Overland, 81, Story City, died Sept. 20, 2000 at his home. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City with Rev. Stephen Anenson officiating. Burial will be in the Story City Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday after 3 p.m. with the family present from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Soderstrum-Larson Funeral Home in Story City. Memorials may be left to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hospice or the National Hemophilia Foundation.

Jesse B. Overland, son of Edwin and Lillie Johnson Overland, was born June 28, 1919 in Hamilton County. He lived all of his life in Hamilton and Story County. He served with the U.S. Army in World War II, serving in Burma. He married Margaret Phelps on Jan. 3, 1953. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City, the Story City American Legion, Farm Bureau, former Hamilton County Fair Board member for 18 years, Randall Coop Board, National Hemophilia Foundation and Ames Coin Club.

Survivors are his wife, Margaret, Story City, Marci Rollins of Kanehoe, HI., Jane Moore of Alden and Jean Horlacher of Frankfort, Ind.; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a sister, Anna Overland, Story City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren, Patrick Baldus and Rene Disbrowe, a son, Edwin "Eddie" Overland and a brother, Lawrence.
