Funeral services were held Monday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City for Lawrence Cheyne, 55, of Webster City. Rev. Raymond M. Roden and Rev. LeRoy Miltner officiated. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery. Graveside flag folding services were conducted by American Legion Post 191.

Mr. Cheyne died Friday, Jan. 1 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. He had been a patient for two days and was in failing health for six weeks.

Lawrence Donald Cheyne, son of Donald and Nellie Jaynes Cheyne, was born July 9, 1932 at Williams, where he was educated. He graduated from Williams High School in 1949 and later Drake University.

On January 14, 1956, he married Beverly Ratzke. The couple lived in Webster City where Mr. Cheyne was vice president of Webster City Federal Savings and Loan.

Survivors are his wife, two sons and two daughters - Dr. Ken Cheyne of Dubuque, Beth Cheyne of Iowa City, Jan Cheyne and Brad Cheyne, both of Webster City; his mother of Williams; one sister, Lorraine (Mrs. LeRoy) Barnes of Blairsburg.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Cheyne was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 191, Elks Lodge No. 1674 of Iowa Falls, Webster City Moose Lodge and VFW post 5724 of Webster City.
