Mima Jean Chaloupka, 87, was born November 28, 1923 in Bouton, Iowa. She was the eldest child of William D. & LaMima S. (Gray) Jackson. She passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the New Homestead in Guthrie Center, Iowa. She grew up on the family farm, attending school in Minburn and Perry, and graduating from Minburn High School in 1941.

"Jeanie" attended Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, Iowa from 1941 - 1943, receiving her teaching certificate. She taught country school in Dallas County until her marriage on January 25, 1946, Jean was united in marriage to Merle D. Chaloupka, of Yale, in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple farmed north of Yale and were parents of three children: LaRee, Greg, and LaRayne.

Jean was a member of the Yale Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, holding the office of State Vice-President, and member of the Does #407, Perry. She was Postmaster of Yale, serving the community for 25 years. She is most remembered by her family and friends for her lifelong love of music.

Mima Jean is survived by her children; LaRee (Robert) Russell of West Des Moines, Greg (Marlene) Chaloupka of Yale, and LaRayne (Danny) Deardorff of Yale. Grandchildren: Brenda (Andy) Lounsbury, Marsha (Brad) Johnson, Brian (Julie) Russell, Kari Russell, Sara (Brian) Fox, Clinton (Heather) Deardorff, Cale Deardorff, Courtney Deardorff, and Collin Deardorff. Great-grandchildren: William and Lauren Lounsbury, Lindsey, Carly, and Kyle Johnson, Ashlyn and Noelle Russell, Emersyn Fox, Corbin and Connor Deardorff. Brothers; James (Charlotte) Jackson and Robert (Rhea) Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Merle in 2010, and brother William Jackson, Jr.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, May 13, 2011 at Twigg Funeral Home, Panora. Burial will be in Richland Township Cemetery, rural Bagley. Visitation will be Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
