Final rites for A W "Mac" Hall were held Wednesday at 11 a m from the Starling Funeral Home in Bayard. The veteran Bayard businessman died Monday in the Green County hospital.
A native of Bayard, Mr. Hall operated the pool hall and tavern from 1931 until January 1, 1971. During that time he was active in the community and was widely known as a golfer and fisherman.
The funeral was in charge of Steven Shepherd, minister of the Bayard church of Christ, and Rev A Keith Hauser, pastor of the Bayard United Methodist Church. Mrs. Ray Schwartz was pianist and accompanied Mrs. I R Hughes and Mrs. Steve Shepherd as they sang two hymns.
The casket was carried by Richard Manor, Clair Kraft, William Schoonover, Robert Rolfes, Cecil Sease and Orville Mercer. Interment was made in the Highland cemetery.
Arthur William Hall, son of John and Carolyn Nichols Hall, was born March 16, 1893, on the farm south of Bayard and passed away July 9, 1973, at the Green county Medical Center in Jefferson, at the age of 80 years, three months and 24 days.
He was united in marriage to Beatrice Ocheltree on March 26, 1914, in Audubon. To this union three children were born: Leo Keith who died in infancy: Bernice, Mrs. Gerald Kelly and Cora, who passed away in February, 1970.
"Mac" spent his entire life in Guthrie County in the Bayard area where he farmed for 17 years and later operated the pool hall in Bayard for many years.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, one son, one daughter, two granddaughters and one infant grandson.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Beatrice; daughter, Bernice; son-in-law, Gerald Kelly; grandson, Robert Dean Kelly, granddaughter-in-law, Marilyn Kelly; two great grandchildren, Cynthia Ann Kelly and Jason Robert Kelly of Albion, Nebraska; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
