John Peterson, son of Henry and Johanna Peterson, was born near Copenhagen, Denmark, November 21, 1855. He departed this life at home in Panora, Iowa, December 26, 1936, at the age of 81 years,1 month and 5 days. At the age of 15 years he came with his parents to the United States. They located in Whiteside Co, Illinois. In 1882 Mr. Peterson moved to Iowa, locating on a farm in Warren County. Four years later he moved to Guthrie County where he has since resided. On Mar 19, 1888 he was united in marriage to Amanda Warner. To this union were born two children, Inez and Daniel. Those preceding him in death are: his wife Jan 27, 1933, two sisters and one brother. leaves to mourn: his son Daniel E. Peterson of Panora, his daughter Inez S. Boston of Shell Lake, Wisconsin, one sister Mrs. Lizzie Middagh of Alma, Nebraska, one brother P. J. Peterson, who has made his home with him the past year, four grandchildren, friends and neighbors. Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church, Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Raoul Calkins, of Eastern Place M. E. Church of Des Moines, and Rev. L. G. Wolfe, the local M. E. Pastor. Internment was in the Brethren Cemetery.
