Lucille Zaruba, 90, daughter of James and Ethel (McCarty) Moore, was born March 12, 1918 in Fremont, Nebraska. She passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the Perry Lutheran Home.
She graduated from Perry High School in 1935. She worked at Production Credit in Perry for two years. On April 11, 1942, she married Elston Zaruba at Jefferson Barricks, St. Louis, Missouri. To this union two daughters were born; Cheri and Barbara. She worked as a secretary at Cochran Field Air Force Base in Georgia, for her husband's Captain, during WWII. After his service, they moved to Yale, residing there until 1966, when they moved to Perry.
She enjoyed playing the piano and reading. She was a member of the Yale Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary in Yale, the Pythian Sisters in Yale, and Perry Bible Church.
Lucille is survived by her daughters; Cheri and husband Roger Santi of Ankeny and Barbara and husband John Mahler of Perry, four grandchildren; Tony Santi, Larry Santi, Hilliary Mahler, and Jeremy Mahler; five great-grandchildren; Tory, Reghan, Quin, Kane, and Zander. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elston in 2001, two brothers, and a sister.
