Oliver P. Miller was born in Park county, Iowa, June 23, 1842 and died at his
farm, Menlo, Iowa Nov. 6, 1914, age 72. He was married to Elizabeth Boyd, Dec.
11, 1865. To them were born 7 children, Mrs. Mary E. Cabbage, of Hazelton,
North Dakota; Joseph S. and Enos B. of Menlo, Iowa; Perry L. of Casey, Iowa;
Mrs. Anna Boots and Mrs. Alice Doherty of Stuart, Iowa, 23 grandchildren, 3
brothers and 1 sister, John F. and James B. of Menlo and Simon P. of Fonda, Iowa
and Mrs. Martha Messenger of Menlo, Iowa. He was one of the early settlers of
Beaver township, He came to this county as a young lad 62 years ago, and this
has been his home up to the time of his death. When the Civil War broke out he
enlisted in the 29th Iowa Infantry and performed his duty as a soldier to the
satisfaction of his commanding officers. After his discharge he came home and
entered into the peaceful pursuit of a farmer to which he was successful.

Mr. Miller was a soldier of the rebellion in Co. I, 29th Regiment Iowa Volunteer
Infantry from 1862 to 1865. Services were held in the Glendon Bethel on Sunday
Nov. 8.
