Burkhardt Rites Held Friday
Funeral services for Elsie Burkhardt of Guthrie Center were held Friday, January 27, in Guthrie Center. Mrs. Burkhardt died January 24.
Rev. Jerry D. Palmer officiating at services in First Christian Church. Debbie Coffman was organist.
Interment was in Union Cemetery with the casket carried by Gary Coffman, Jim Laughery, Jack Stringer, Elmer Kopaska, Jr., Terry Laughery and John Stringer.Obit: ELSIE ILENE BURKHARDT
Elsie Ilene Burkhardt, daughter of Lyman and Donna Porter Hoyt, was born March 31,1910, in Guthrie Center. She passed away at the New Homestead, Githrie [sic Guthrie] Center, on January 24.
Ilene's realy [sic early]\ life was spent in the parental home attending school and growing into womanhood. On June 17,1928, Ilene was united in marriage to Clarence Burkhardt. To this union two children were born.
The family has lived in the Guthrie Center area for many years, and following retirement made their home within the Community. Ilene had been a resident of the New Homestead for about three years.
Ilene enjoyed life and working with people. She enjoyed her clubs, working as a member of the Christian Womens Fellowship, as well as the church as long as her health permitted. She was also very handy with craft items which she loved to work on.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence, and her daughter, Dorthy Joyce in infancy.
To mourn her passing she leaves her daughter Mary and her husband, Eldon Howey of Guthrie Center; grand daughter, Cheryl and her husband, Dale Oxley; three great grandchildren; brother - in - law, Phillip Burkhardt and his wife, Eleanor of Gurgrie [sic Guthrie] Center, three sisters - in - law: Anna Burkhardt and Olivene Messinger of Guthrie Center and Lois Eastman of Panora; other relatives and friends
