Thursday, the 17th of October 2024, the good Lord said Leola; it's time for you to come home with me. He saw you were tired and broken hearted and he wanted you to come join your husband, Duane Babcock; who had been called home on Thursday; the 4th of July. Leola was under the wonderful care from Care Initiatives; Hospice at the time of her passing; surrounded with the love from her children. Lea was 91 years of age.

Leola's services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday the 26th of October with visitation an hour before the service at the Steamboat Rock Presbyterian Church. Lunch will be served after the service & the burial will follow the lunch at the Jackson Township Cemetery in Owasa. With honor, Adams Celebration of Life is serving the family and has an on-line guest book available to sign if you are unable to attend.

Leola (Lea) Edna Paterni was born August 6, 1933; on a farm North of Steamboat Rock to George & Susie (Nederhoff) Paterni. Lea graduated from the Wellsburg school - Class of 1951. On November 24, 1954; she married A. Duane Babcock from Eldora, IA at the Wellsburg Reformed Church. From this union; they were blessed with 4 sons and 1 daughter.

Lea worked at the old Eldora Hospital, Farmer Brothers, and then the Eldora City Hall. At the age of 69; she decided she wasn't done working yet and went to work for the Hardin Co. Conservation; retiring at the age of 80. She was a member of the Steamboat Rock Presbyterian Church and the Hardin Co. Historical Society.

Leola is survived by her children: Craig (Diana) Babcock; children Joshua Babcock, Vanessa (Chris) Meester, & Jeremy (Sasha) Babcock. Terry (Diane) Babcock; children Candace (Dustin) Meyer and Chase (Hollie) Babcock. Kevin (Cindy) Babcock; children Katie (Jason) Reifschneider and Cassie Babcock. Brenda (Alvin) Robison; children Anthony (Katie) Monroe and Jerod (Alecia) Monroe. Jason (Christine) Babcock; children Courtney (Shelby) Erickson, Amy (Drew) Bryant, and daughter-in-law Becky Nachtman. Along with 18 great-grand children, sister-in-law Donna Smith and many nieces & nephews.

Lea was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Babcock; her parents; sister & brother-in-law Doris & Gary Parker, niece Connie Wray & nephew Michael Parker. Grandson Colby Viergets and great granddaughter Claire Meyer. Her brother-in-laws' & sister-in-laws' Mervon & Dorothea Babcock, Elma (Curly) & Don Cunningham, Connie & Ed Barnard and Jack Smith.
