Arnold "Arnie" Nederhoff, 86, of Wellsburg, IA passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at Arlington Place in Grundy Center, IA. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 30, 2024, at First Christian Reformed Church in Wellsburg. Visitation will begin 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will follow services at the First Christian Reformed Church Cemetery in Wellsburg. Anderson Funeral Homes of Conrad has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Arnold was born on September 16, 1938, to Peter H and Gepka (Deters) Nederhoff in Marshalltown, IA. He graduated from Wellsburg High School with the class of 1956. After high school Arnold went to Iowa State University where he completed the Agricultural Farming Course in 1957. He returned to the family farm where he lived his entire life. He was united in marriage to Belva Molendorp and they were blessed with 4 children. Brenda, Sandi, David, and Robert. They later divorced.

Arnold was a lifetime member of the 1st Christian Reformed Church of Wellsburg.

He loved the family farm which was designated as a century farm at the Iowa State Fair in 2023. Arnold raised soybeans and corn and in the late 60’s he received the award of Master Corn Grower, he had a herd of Brown Swiss cows and was a grade A dairy which sold the milk to Anderson Erickson in Des Moines.

He was proud to display one of the first Grundy County quilt squares on the North and South sides of his barn. He was just as proud of his KOI pond, and he spent many hours watching the koi and relaxing to the sound of the waterfall.

Arnold loved people. No one was a stranger. He enjoyed years of driving a school bus route and driving the team or pep bus to athletic events. He was active in the local Jaycee chapter until it dissolved serving several years as president. Weekly bowling league was always something he looked forward to and enjoyed. Arnold was also on the board for the Wellsburg Historical Society and as a lifelong resident of Wellsburg enjoyed the memories from years past.

The Nederhoff family traveled every summer in the family pickup with the pickup camper as they toured around the United States. He loved to travel anywhere anytime. Arnold and his kids discussed where they would possibly go while they walked the soybean fields every year.

Auto racing was probably his favorite pastime. He loved auto racing and especially open wheel racing. He fulfilled his dream of going to the Indy 500 more than once with his sons. Knoxville raceway was his favorite track. Nothing was better than the weekly drive to Knoxville for the Saturday night show or camping in August for the Knoxville Nationals. Arnold and his sons also have a couple vintage sprint cars, and he looked forward to running his car at various tracks but the High Banks of Belleville Kansas was his favorite. He was a member of the Missouri Valley Vintage Race Car Association.

One of Arnolds greatest joys was his only grandson, Lindsay. He always wanted updates on his travels with the US Air Force and now with his roll with Blue Origin. He loved to tell anyone who asks that his grandson was a rocket scientist. Nothing would make Arnold smile more than when he could FaceTime with his 2 great-grandchildren Lincoln and Senna.

Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, ex wife Belva, and his son Robert in September. He is survived by his daughters Brenda Pearson, Atlantic, IA, Sandi Bal, Ackley, IA, David Nederhoff, Wellsburg, IA, grandson Lindsay High (Brittanie), Great Grandson – Lincoln and Great Granddaughter Senna all of Yelm, WA.
