May 11, 1899Squire Wm. Mann died yesterday afternoon at his residence, of general debility.
He had been sick for two years and had been confined to his room for the past two months.
Short funeral services were held at his home this morning, after which his remains were taken to Hamburg, Iowa, his old home, for interment. A. M. Town, who was with him constantly during his illness, accompanied the remains.
Mr. Mann was born in Virginia and when but a small boy moved with his parents to Indiana and from there to Iowa. When quite young he enlisted in the Union Army and shortly after the war he moved to Missouri, where he has since resided.
At the age of 15 years, he was converted, joined the M. E. Church and has ever lived a consistent christian life. He will be sadly missed by a large circle of friends. He was a man of many good traits of character.
He leaves a wife, two brothers, A. Mann of Hamburg, Iowa, Arch Mann, of Thurman, Iowa, and other relatives and a host of friends to mourn his death.
