The Fremont County Herald, published in Sidney, Iowa
Thursday, August 27th, 1925

Le Roy Liggett, better known to old friends here as Lee Liggett, passed away at the Soldiers Home at Leavenworth, Kansas. The body was brought to Sidney Monday by way of Hamburg and was laid to rest that evening in the local cemetery. Lee was a bachelor and had attained the age of eighty-five at the time of his death.

He was a resident of Sidney for a number of years, making his home with his sisters, Emma and Rachel Liggett, who were in the millinery business here for some time.

Lee was a mechanical genius and our boyhood recollection of him is that we used to delight in watching him "tinker" when he was making some intricate device and especially when Reunion time came around we were always one of his best customers when he sold his "holy-poky" ice cream.

Mr. Liggett was a soldier and served his country during the Civil War.

Frank Liggett, a nephew, of Bradeyville, Iowa and a number of other relatives and friends attended the short services here Monday evening as the remains were laid to rest in Sidney Cemetery.
