Friday, October 2nd, 1908After a sickness of several months, W. S. Kleckner died at his home in Farragut on Friday, September 25, 1908. During the latter part of his sickness he was very low and his condition gave to relatives and friends but little hope for his recovery, although all that could be done was most cheerfully attended to.
William S. Kleckner was a native of Carroll County, Ohio, he dating his birth back to December 31, 1835. At the age of 7 years he moved with his parents to Hancock County, Ohio, where he grew to manhood, and in 1856 he moved to Knox County, Illinois, where on March 7, 1865, he was united to marriage to Mrs. Rhoda G. McBride and to them five children were born all of whom are living and all were with him at the time of his demise. Their names; Lora C. and Earl L. Kleckner, Mrs. John Booth and Mrs. Charles Comstock, of Farragut; Mrs. Dickinson, of Kansas.
In February 1898 Mr. Kleckner and family located on a splendid farm two miles east of Farragut which was their home until he and his wife concluded to move to town to spend the remainder of their days. For over thirty years Mr. Kleckner was an active member of the Old Fellow Order and had been a member of the Grand Army of the Republic of since its organization. Mr. Kleckner was an honorable man in all his dealings and rejoiced to see the success of his fellow man.
His funeral was conducted by Mrs. Mary G. Andrews of Omaha who was assisted by Rev. Branco pastor of the Christian Church of Farragut. His burial was under the ritual of the Grand Army of the Republic. The pallbearers were; Harry Rogers, M. L. Allen, M. M. Chambers, S. A. Thomas, L. P. Allen and M. J. Coy. Interment in the Farragut Cemetery.
