THE FREMONT COUNTY HERALD. June 11, 1925. "James K. Pierson". _ Following an illness of some weeks duration, James K. Pierson passed away at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs on June 5, 1925, at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 9 days.

Mr. Pierson was born at Filmore, Missouri, on December 26, 1848. Early in life he came to Iowa and settled in FREMONT COUNTY. In 1871 he was married to Miss Ada McBee at Sidney and was a continuous resident of the county until called by death. To the union were born seven children. One, Paul, died in infancy. Those who survive the father are Nora A., Mrs. May Abshire, Ernest W. and Walter R. of Sidney; Mrs. Irene Jordan of Shenandoah and Lester of Burlington, Colorado.

About forty-three years ago Mr. Pierson united with the Baptist church at Lacy Grove. He was a life-long democrat and a strong believer in the principles of his party. He was ever an affectionate husband and father and as a neighbor he was always highly esteemed. He was a man who always believed in making himself useful and his companionship will be greatly missed by his relatives, neighbors and friends.

Besides the widow and the six children he leaves thirty-four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and numerous friends to mourn their loss.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Baptist church, conducted by Rev. L. W. Ross. Six grandsons bore the casket to its last resting place in Sidney cemetery.

Among the out-of-town people who attended the funeral were noted Mr. and Mrs. James Sterling of Omaha, Mrs. William Pierson and daughter of Hamburg, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Rasco of Barnard, Missouri and Mr. and Mrs. Will Starks of Anderson.
