Ruby Irene Wilson

NORA SPRINGS, IOWA — Ruby Irene Wilson, 92, of 115 S. Hawkeye, died Monday (Aug. 13, 2007) at the Nora Springs Care Center in Nora Springs.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at the Christian Church, 202 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, with the Rev. Glen Bandel officiating. Interment will be in the Spring Grove Cemetery, Nora Springs.

Visitation will be from 5 until 6:30 p.m. today at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, and continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Ruby Irene Wilson Memorial Fund.

Ruby Irene Gallup was born Aug. 30, 1914, in Ionia, Kansas, the daughter of Charles Floyd and Helen Belle (Benedict) Gallup. Ruby graduated from Nora Springs High School.

She was united in marriage to George A. Wilson on Nov. 30, 1935, in Charles City; to this union five children were born. Ruby was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Later, Ruby was a certified nurse’s aide at the Nora Springs Care Center until the time of her retirement.

Ruby enjoyed crafts, plastic canvas work, needle work, garage sales, going out to eat and playing cards with the Giddy Biddies Card Club. Her greatest love was spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Christian Church, Nora Springs.

Ruby is survived by her daughters, Shirley Sandy, of Mason City, and Margery Leake, of Nora Springs; grandchildren, Jocee (Oscar) Kelly, of Mason City, Joni (John) Bachman, of Boone, Jay Sandy and special friend DarRaye Hunwardsen, of Sioux City, Lori (Eric) Botts, of Macomb, Ill., Kathy (Ed) Mahlstedt, of Bagley, David (Becca) Leake, of Nora Springs, Amy Vosburgh and special friend, Jim Cole, of Nora Springs; great-grandchildren, Tony (Ehrin) Kelly, Lindsey Kelly, Justin, Jason and Jay J. Sandy, Ben and Beth Bachman, Meghan, Hayley and Carly Botts, Bryant, Kayla, Andy and Thomas Mahlstedt, Amanda, Marissa and Kara Leake, Chelsea and Hunter Vosburgh; great-great-grandson, Max Anthony Kelly; brother, LeRoy Gallup and special friend, Helen Scarrow, of Mason City; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; children, Kenneth, Anne and Jimmy Wilson; grandson Mark Leake; great-granddaughter, Brianna Leake; five sisters, five brothers, two siblings in infancy, and sister-in-law, Doris Gallup.
