Lou Ann Christina Dietel, daughter of LeRoy and Mary Lou (Hernandez) Potter, was born on May 11, 1979 in Albert Lea, Minnesota. She passed away on April 5, 2020 at the Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa at the age of 40.

Lou Ann attended school in Albert Lea, Minnesota. The family then moved to Iowa and she worked at a lumber company in Forest City, Iowa. The family moved to the Estherville area in 2002. She was united in marriage to Justin Dietel on December 2, 2005. Lou Ann worked for Good Samaritan Home as a cook, worked at Pamida, and then worked at Pearl Valley as a cook. The couple made their home in Estherville and had a son Sage Dietel. Lou Ann enjoyed working at Cost Cutters.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville.

Lou Ann was a loving mother and wife. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family, reading romantic books, watching horror movies, and cooking. Making authentic Mexican meals with her sister April, brought her happiness, and her family enjoyed eating those meals. Lou Ann enjoyed spending time watching Bob's Burgers and Family Guy. She enjoyed taking care of her animals, especially Snickers, Mimi, and Penelope.

Lou Ann is survived by her husband Justin (Judd) Dietel, her son Sage Dietel, her mother Mary Lou Potter all of Estherville, her siblings Teresa (Rick) Hoverson of Minnesota, Danette Dalton of Des Moines, Iowa, and Juan (Jonny) Hernandez of Albert Lea, Minnesota. She is also survived by her nephew and nieces Colin (Fiancée-April) Tibbetts, Bella Tibbetts, and Willow Brunskill. She is also survived by her uncle Robert (Anna) Hernandez and aunt Rosie (Richard) Peterson of Albert Lea, Minnesota.

Lou Ann is preceded in death by her dad LeRoy Potter, her sister April Brunskill, her grandparents, and uncles Patrick, Junior, Raymond, and Herman Hernandez.
