Longtime Resident of county Dies
Lars B. Rockne, 86, a longtime resident of Emmet county, died Friday [May 13, 1955] at his home after an illness of a month’s duration. Mr. Rockne, born in Emmet county, farmed in High Lake and Jack Creek townships for most of his adult life.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Sternborg Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran church south of Gruver. The Rev. C.B.Gunderson will be in charge. Friends may call at Sternborg Funeral Home from noon today until time of services.

Mr. Rockne was born Oct. 8, 1868 in High Lake township and lived in Emmet county all but a few years when he farmed in Minnesota. He farmed in High Lake and Jack Creek townships and retired in 1927, moving to Estherville.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. David Norman of Estherville and Mrs. Harry Nelson of Little Falls, Minn.; four sons, Obert, Lloyd, Elmer and Kert, all of Estherville; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Trefald of Mora, Minn., and Mrs. Lewis Isaakson of Wallingford; and eight grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death in 1947 and one great grandchild also preceded him in death. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 16, 1955)
