An item occurred in last week’s paper concerning the late Mrs. Lerdall that was incorrect probably by mistake. Mr. and Mrs. T.T. Lerdall Sr. came to America in 1869 and to Emmet county in 1871. T.T. Lerdall Sr. died December 13, 1891. To them were born twelve children, eight of them who survive, which are: H.T. Lerdall, of Madison, Wis.; A.T. Lerdall, of Ossian, Iowa; Mrs. Henry Haven, of Millet, N.D.; Mrs. O.N. Beyer, of Lake Preston, S.D.; Mrs. Ole Hanson, of Spencer, Iowa; Mrs. M. Wolcutt, Mrs. Olof Johnson and T.T. Lerdall, all of this place. All of whom were present at the funeral except A.T. Lerdall, of Ossian. Mr. and Mrs. T.T. Lerdall were of the first settlers to take up homestead in Emmet county and they experienced some hard trials in early days when the nearest railroad was at Ft. Dodge and they had to make the trip there with oxen, taking wheat along for exchange for flour. These old pioneers will nevertheless be in the minds of their friends and neighbors although they are absent. The afflicted have the sympathy of the entire community in this hour of bereavement.

To her eternal home has a mother gone.
With her we all hope to be ere very long.
Although she is absent from us; sad as it were,
There’ll be a grand reunion when we meet her over there.
(Emmet County Republican, Estherville, IA, October 31, 1901)
