Died
Mrs. Martha Kootz [Kutz], wife of Carl Kootz, a famer in High Lake township, died at her home at 5 o’clock last Tuesday afternoon. She had been sick only a few days but her condition was considered dangerous from the first. Mrs. Kootz, whose maiden name was Martha Traefold, came with her parents to Emmet county from Minnesota when quite young where she has since resided. She was united in marriage to Carl Kootz about eight years ago. She is survived by her husband and four small children, the youngest only ten days old, her aged parents, two brothers and one sister, all of whom reside in Emmet county. The funeral service was held Thursday at the Emmanuel church, Rev. Strand officiating. The remains were laid to rest in High Lake cemetery. The entire community extend heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved husband and relatives of the stricken family. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, October 18, 1905)

Carl Kutz loaded his personal belongings into a car Monday and has located on his mother’s farm in southern Wisconsin. We regret the loss of such men. He was an ideal citizen in every way. His mother will care for his family of small children who lost their mother a few months since. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, December 6, 1905)
