Joyce Ellis Dies Following Long Time Illness
Death came to Joyce Corliss Ellis last night about 11:30 at Holy Family hospital after an operation for appendicitis a week ago. She had been ill for some time with a blood disease that had weakened her.

Joyce resided with her mother, Mrs. Cora Ellis. She was employed before her illness at the Rexall Store. She was an excellent little lady with a fine personality, always pleasant and agreeable to all.

She formerly resided south of Wallingford and attended school there and later here. She was born June 10, 1928.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at two o’clock in Wallingford Lutheran Church in Wallingford, the Rev. Gunderson officiating. Interment will be in the High Lake cemetery east of Wallingford. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, July 1, 1948)

Blood Disease Fatal to Joyce Ellis, 20
Joyce C. Ellis, 20, daughter of Mrs. Cora Ellis of Estherville died at 11 o’clock last night at Holy Family hospital where she had been confined since June 7. Her physician said death resulted from a blood disease. She became ill three years ago and last year underwent surgery in a Texas hospital. She has been in relatively good health since then and was employed in the Estherville Drug store until June 7 when she suffered a sudden recurrence.

Miss Ellis was born on June 10, 1928, a Nekoma, N.D., the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. William Ellis. In 1935 the family moved to the Wallingford vicinity where they have resided since. Mr. Ellis died December 21, 1942, in a truck-railroad accident which also took the life of John Heidecker.

A member of the Wallingford Lutheran church, Miss Ellis was baptized in the Lutheran church at Nekoma and confirmed at Wallingford. She attended Graettinger high school.

Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Cora Ellis; two sisters, Mrs. Lawrence Tenborg of Wallingford and Mrs. W.E. Roy of El Campo, Tex., and a brother, William E. Ellis of Wallingford. Also surviving are her grandmother, Mrs. Belle Ellis of Park River, N.D., grandfather, T.E. Dahle of Klamath Falls, Ore., two nieces, Patty Jo Roy and Judith Lynn Tenborg and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Walter Thiel home and at 2 p.m. in the Wallingford Lutheran church, Rev. C.R. Gunderson officiating. Members of her confirmation class will act as pallbearers. Burial will be in High Lake cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 1, 1948)
