Ivan L. Cook Dies at Home
Ill of cancer for the past two months, Ivan Lyle Cook, 59, died at his home here about 5 p.m. last night.

For 16 years Cook had operated Cook’s Café in Wallingford and he and his wife also operate a nursing home here.

Born March 21, 1902 at Sandwich, Ill., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Cook, he received elementary and secondary schooling in Sandwich. He attended Lombard College at Galesburg, Ill.

He was married Jan. 17, 1930 to Beryl Carter at Joliet, Ill. The couple has lived in Estherville for the past 28 years.

Cook is survived by his wife, two sons, Lee of Estherville and David of Yuma, Ariz., and one grandson, Michael.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.

Funeral services have been set for 2 p.m. Friday at the Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home. The Rev. Benjamin Colvet of the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church south of Gruver will officiate. Burial will be in High Lake Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from this evening until time of services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 2, 1961)
