Longtime High Lake Resident Dies

John B. Peterson, 72, of Graettinger, longtime resident of the High Lake township area, died at 10:45 last night [June 1, 1958] at Holy Family Hospital. He had been in failing health for the past year and a half.

Mr. Peterson was born April 20, 1886 in High Lake township, [a son of Peder and Martha Peterson], and received his education in country schools in that area.

Most of his life was spent there where he worked as a blacksmith. He also lived in Illinois for a number of years returning this area a year ago.

Survivors are two children, Mrs. Chris Martinson and Gerheart [Gerhard] Peterson, both of Estherville and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter Myrtle in 1916; three brothers, Peter, Nels and Lewis, and one great granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Wallingford Lutheran church. the Rev. Norbert Jolivette of Wallingford Lutheran and the Rev. Theodore Maakestad of Estherville will officiate. Burial will be in High Lake cemetery.

Friends may call at the Sternborg Funeral Home beginning Sunday noon.
