Arthur M. Boardman, 87, of 91 Burns Street died at 9:00a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012 at home with his family by his side. Funeral services will be at 10:30a.m. Tuesday, November 20 2012 at Saint Columbkilles Catholic Church with Fr. Gabriel Anderson Officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery with full military rites by the American Legion Post #6. Friends may call from 5 to 8 Monday November 19, at the Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, where there will be a parish wake service at 5:00p.m.

Art was born on September 16, 1925 in Dubuque the son of Arthur G. and Rose (Bertella) Boardman. He married Catherine Rooney in 1952 and she preceded him in death on April 20, 2007. Art served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in the 45th Infantry Division. After being discharged he worked as a garage mechanic for four years and then began a 32 year career with Dubuque John Deere. He worked as an experimental mechanic in hydraulics and electronics also working with the engines and testing at John Deere.

He was a member of the U.A.W. Local 94, V.F.W. and was an active member of the American Legion Post #6 where he served on the Funeral Honor's Detail and marched in many parade's with the American Legion Color Guard.

He is survived by his daughters Patricia M. Boardman of Anaheim, CA, and twins Karen Boardman of Dubuque and Kristine (Brad) King of Folsom, CA. A son Arthur "Butch" Boardman of Dubuque, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, and two sisters Betty Boardman and Thelma Simon both of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents and a brother Harold in infancy.
