Dubuque Times Journal Tuesday October 10, 1916
The death of Mrs. Elizabeth Lies, widow of Peter Lies, occurred Monday morning at 1 o'clock at the family residence, 2164 Washington street. Mrs. Lies was born in Germany eighty-five years ago and had lived in Dubuque for nearly half a century, coming here in 1857.
She had been ailing for the past thirty years and during the past six weeks was seriously ill. Two sons, John and Henry of Dubuque, nad one grandson, A.F. Bussman, of Waterloo, are numbered among her surviving relatives.
Mrs. Lies was a faithful member of the Lutheran church and a woman of exemplary life. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the family residence to St. John's cemetery.
