Kristy Ann Monahan, age 51, of Dubuque, Iowa, completed her earthly journey on July 6, 2021, at Dubuque Specialty Care, surrounded by her loving family. To honor Kristy’s life, a memorial service will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021, from 10:30 until 11:00 a.m. at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1111 Davis Street in Dubuque. A private family burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Her family and friends will also be invited to a Celebration of Life for Kristy on July 28, 2021. The Tri-State Cremation Center is humbly serving Kristy’s family.

Kristy was born on July 28, 1969, in Dubuque, IA, a daughter to Eugene “Mike” and Joyce (Jochum) Monahan. She attended sacred heart and was a proud graduate of Hempstead High School, Class of ’87. She completed her education at Clarke College with a degree is social work. Kristy eventually moved to Carrolton, Missouri, and became a traveling supervisor for the Summit Corporation. We will miss Kristy with all of our hearts and treasure every memory she leaves behind.

Kristy is survived by her children, Kiera Monahan, Korey Monahan, Kelsey Monahan, Keenen Monahan, and Kalyn Gilbreath; her grandchildren, Kamarion Rucker, Khalia Rucker, Khiyah Myles, and Karianna Myles; her sister, Kelly Simpson, Appleton, WI; her Godmother, Geri (Paul) O’Connor, Urbandale, IA; her bestfriend, Shawn (Pat) McClain, Hazel Green, WI; along with numerous extended family and friends.

Kristy was preceded in death by her significant other, Terry Harker; her parents, Mike and Joyce Monahan; her grandparents, Alfred and Lolita (Schmitt) Jochum and Mary Monahan; her aunt, Freda Jochum; her uncle, Tom Jochum; her cousins, Sara Jochum, Jessica Bennett, Elizabeth Klinkhammer, and Molly Schmidt; and her dear friend, Uncle Buddy.

Kristy’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Dubuque Speciality Care and Hospice of Dubuque for all of their compassionate and professional care. They would also like to extend a special thank you to Shawn McClain and Jill Bennet for all of their generous love and support.
