Pioneer Party in Table Mound
The Telegraph-Herald and Times-Journal Newspaper - May 20, 1932, Page 16

Mrs. Ellen Walsh, who was unable to be present for the festivities but whom Table Mound counts proudly as one of its pioneers, is one of the oldest settlers in the county.

She was born in 1835 and so she is now 97 years old. She was born in Kilkenny, Ireland, and came to Dubuque in 1842, when she was seven years old. In 1853 she was married in St. Raphael's Cathedral and she and her husband lived on a farm in Washington township in a little log cabin.

While the country was so sparsely settled, the Walsh family used to move into Dubuque for the winter after their wheat crop was harvested.

Eight of their twelve children are still living. Mrs. Walsh is able to be about her home every day and possesses a keen memory.
