SALISBURY, Mo. — Donald William Kraemer, 79, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016, at Moberly Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Mobley.

Donald was born on February 17, 1937, in Chicago, IL, a son of Harry and Arlene (Reiter) Kraemer. On May 27, 1967, in Pecatonica, IL, he married Helen Anne McDermott, who preceded him in death on August 21, 1937.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Donald was a member of the St. Mary's of the Angel Catholic Church in Wien, MO, and the Salisbury Knights of Columbus. He worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Children's Home in Chicago and he was a volunteer at the Pioneer Nursing Home in Marceline for many years.

Survivors include one son, Jere Kraemer (Brenda), of Huntsville, MO; one sister, Janice Vesley (Chuck), of Colorado; sister and brother in-laws, Bea and Richard Soens, Madeline McDermott, Erica McDermott, Rev. Joseph McDermott SVD, Patrick and Patricia McDermott, Michael McDermott, Linus and Shirley McDermott, Camillus and Maureen McDermott, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to both of his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Wayne Kraemer, mother and father in-law, Ruth and Ambrose McDermott, sister and brother in-laws, Frances Raab, Lois McDermott, Mary Joan and Marvin Ernst, Anthony McDermott and Thomas McDermott.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at the St. John the Evangelist Church, in Epworth (Placid), Iowa. Burial will follow at the St. John Catholic Placid Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Mary's of the Angel Catholic Church in Wien, MO.

Arrangements are in the care of Patton Funeral Home in Huntsville, MO.
