Clement P. "Clem" McDermott, of 3125 Pennsylvania Ave., died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Steve Rosonke officiating. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, at Siegert-Casper Colonial Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a parish wake service at 7:30 p.m.

He was born on March 12, 1928, in Peosta, son of Alberic and Mary (McDonald) McDermott.

Clem served in the Army during the Korean War.

He married Imelda Decker in 1953 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Garryowen; she preceded him in death in 1995.

Clem farmed in the Peosta area until 1966. He also worked for Tri-State Implement and the former Dubuque Packing Co.

Surviving are four children, David (Marilyn) McDermott, of Epworth, Wayne (Nancy) McDermott, of Bonita Springs, Fla., Nancy (Chuck) Ashelin, of Asbury, and Jeffrey (Pamela) McDermott, of Dubuque; seven grandchildren, Lucas (Melinda), Allison and Nick (Sara) McDermott, Katie and Andy Ashelin and Emily and Megan McDermott; two great-grandchildren, Alaina and Lance; two brothers, Chuck (Irene) McDermott and Emmett "Shorty" (Dorothy) McDermott; and four sisters, Bernice Faley, Dorothy Murray, Marge Sweeney and Pat (Joe) Larkin.

He also was preceded in death by a sister, Mabel Sweeney; and two brothers, Bernard "Red" and Louis McDermott.

Memorials may be given to the Clem McDermott Memorial Fund.
