Marian (Slattery) Lyons, 92, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of Bernard, Iowa, and 2080 Pasadena, Dubuque, died at 3:22 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, 1999, at Stonehill Care Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Assumption Church, Sylvia Switch, rural Zwingle, Iowa, with burial in Assumption Cemetery, Sylvia Switch. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Siegert-Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m.

She was born on April 20, 1907, in Oelwein, Iowa, daughter of Frank and Nellie (Feeney) Slattery.

She married James Lyons on May 3, 1927, at Assumption Catholic Church, near Zwingle. They farmed in the Zwingle area for most of their lives. Mr. Lyons died in November, 1989.

She was a lifetime member of Assumption Parish and Rosary Society. She was a teacher in the rural schools before her marriage.

Surviving are three daughters, Linda (Bill) Mullinex, of Marion, Iowa, Anne Lammer, of Dubuque, and Jane (Dave) Boffeli, of St. Donatus, Iowa; five sons, Robert (Donna) Lyons, of Maquoketa, Iowa, John (Helen) Lyons, of Dubuque, Gerry (Kathy) Lyons, of Bernard, Iowa, Joe (Barb) Lyons, of St. Catherine, Iowa, and Ray (Sandy) Lyons, of Kingman, Ariz.; a brother, Ray (Jeanette) Slattery, of Dubuque; three sisters, Dorothy (Wilton) Keeney, Ila Thomsen and Monica (Bill) Ries, all of Clinton, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Doris Slattery, of Dubuque; 29 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Donald and Wilson Slattery; a sister, Faustina Bassler; three grandchildren, Jim Lyons, Tommie and Katie Lyons; a son-in-law, Ben Lammer; and a daughter-in-law, Edith Lyons.
