Elaine L. "Ga-Gi" Meloy, of 2720 Pleasant View Drive, formerly of 260 Apple St., died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Siegert-Casper Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a wake service at 7:30 p.m. Friends also may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Meloy worked as a bookkeeper and truck driver at Great Plaines Supply Lumber Co.

She was born on July 4, 1918, in Cascade, Iowa, daughter of Jacob F. and Catherine E. (McGrath) Leytem. She married Dorrance "D.J." Meloy on June 24, 1936, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dubuque; he died on June 25, 1995.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, whom she helped raise while her children worked. Elaine also enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren.

She bowled for many years on teams in both Cascade and Dubuque. Elaine liked to play horseshoes and was an avid baseball fan. She loved to dance!

She was a member of St. Columbkille's Catholic Church and Rosary Society and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Meloy Callahan, of Dubuque, and Mary Beth (C.J.) Turnis, of Peosta, Iowa; five grandchildren, Karen (Dave) Wolking, of Oakdale, Minn., Charles E. (Mary Kay Chapman) Callahan, of Shoreview, Minn., and Travis, Adam and Alex Turnis, all of Peosta; five great-grandchildren, Patrick and Connor Wolking and Molly, Charlie and Danny Callahan; a brother, John "Jack" Leytem, of Dubuque; two sisters, Patricia "Pat" (Les) Furuseth, of Dubuque, and Jean (Bob) Otting, of Cascade; and a sister-in-law, Lois Leytem, of Dubuque.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; four siblings, Mary Leytem, Arnold Leytem, Kay Heiderscheit and N. Joseph "Joe" Leytem; two sisters-in-law, Elmeta Leytem and Lenore Leytem; a brother-in-law, Leo Heiderscheit; and a son-in-law, Chuck Callahan.

In lieu of flowers, an Elaine Meloy Memorial Fund has been established.
