ALIVE AND WELL – Through Mr. Hammer, a member of the Fifth Calvary, who arrived from the south the other day, we have intelligence concerning Peter Kiene, Jr., son of Deputy Sheriff Kiene. He left there on the 16th of last month well and hearty and comfortably clad, in confinement at a place beyond Savannah. When Sherman was “marching along” through Georgia the prisoners were removed several time beyond Federal reach. The infantry fare better than the Calvary regiments in southern hands.
