Robert H. Schmidt, 90, of Mount Pleasant, died 4:15 a.m. Friday, April 14, 1989, at the Henry County Health Center, Mount Pleasant.

Born Nov. 19, 1898, in Des Moines County, he was the son of Frederich and Rosa Pietzsch Schmidt. He married Mabel Schroeder in 1921 in Burlington. He then married Blanche Little Sandberg in 1930 in Des Moines County. She died in 1969.

He farmed most of his life in the Letts area. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Moose, Mount Pleasant, and was a former board of directors member with the People's National Bank, Columbus Junction.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Lucille VanSyoc, New London; one son, K. W. Schmidt, Mount Pleasant; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Burgess, West Burlington and Mrs. Emma Grahm, Davenport; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Sunday at the Elliott Chapel, New London, with the Rev. James Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, West Burlington.

A memorial has been established for the Henry County Health Center's Long-Term Care Unit.
