Old Resident Of Des Moines County Dead.

William Schroeder, an old settler of this county passed away at his home three miles south of Dodgeville on the Pleasant Grove road, at 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon, after a short illness with lung trouble.

Deceased was born in Germany, August, 1835, and came to America with his parents when sixteen years of age, settling in this county. On May 11, 1862 he was united in marriage to Louise Rasche. To this union ten children were born, all of whom are living.

Mr. Schroeder was a successful farmer and had resided on his present farm for over 42 years. He was highly respected by his many friends and was a man of strictest integrity and honesty. He was a consistent member of the German M. E. church and was largely interested in all church work.

He is survived by a widow and ten children: Mrs. Lena Hendrickson, Mrs.Louise Wagner, Mrs. Emma Wusso, Mrs. Clara Mehmken, Charles, William, and Fred Schroeder, Miss Ada Schroeder, all of whom reside in this county, and Mrs. Anna Reineke, and Mrs. Tillie Kuehans, of Van Buren county.

The funeral services will be held from the late residence at 1:30 o'clock and from the German M. E. church, near Dodgeville, at 2 o'clock to-morrow afternoon.
