Gregory Schmitz

Gregory James Schmitz, 39, of Burlington, died at 112 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 1997, at Burlington Medical Center.

Born June 13, 1958, in Burlington, he was the son of Floyd Jr. and Maryann Pohl Schmitz.

Mr. Schmitz was a construction laborer and a trained farrier.

He was a member of Harvest Time Church in West Burlington. He loved to hunt and fish and loved the outdoors.

Survivors include two daughters, Amber and Gercia Schmitz, who live with their mother, Denise Taylor of West Burlington; his parents of Burlington; one brother, Curtis Schmitz of Burlington; and one sister, JoDel Hood of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Visitation will begin after 8 a.m. Tuesday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 830 p.m.

The funeral for Mr. Schmitz will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Michael L. Delaney officiating. Burial will be in North Walker Cemetery in rural Burlington.

A memorial has been established for his daughters' educations.
