DYERSVILLE, Iowa -- Lorraine J. Albang, 93, of Dyersville, died Thursday, May 15, 2008, at Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville, following a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Donald Hertges officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 19, at Kramer Funeral Home, where a parish scripture service will be at 4 p.m. and the American Legion Auxiliary Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m.

She was born on Oct. 30, 1914, in Fillmore, Iowa, daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Leibold) Osterhaus. She married Lawrence Albang in May 1940 in Dyersville; he preceded her in death in 1973.

Lorraine was a seamstress at the Piekenbrock Clothes Factory in Dyersville, and also did custodial work at St. Francis School.

She enjoyed playing cards, the organ, volunteering at Mercy Medical Center, and she liked things that were short and to the point. She also enjoyed flowers, gardening, traveling, visiting, socializing and listening to music. Lorraine was a good cook and loved baking for her family.

She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Basilica, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Catholic Daughters of America.

Surviving are her four children, Anthony (Sandi) Albang, of Mankato, Minn., Joan Cueno and Richard Albang, both of Dyersville, and David (Phyl) Albang, of Oxford Junction, Iowa; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Walter Osterhaus, of Independence, Iowa, and George Osterhaus, of Urbana, Iowa; and a dear friend, Aimee Hoefler, of Las Vegas.

She also was preceded in death by her son, Charles, in 1989; sisters, Mathilda Dague, Bernice Schmitt, Francine Wessels and Mary Osterhaus; and brothers, Leo, Frank, John and Joe Osterhaus.
