DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Marie M. Lueck, 96, of Dyersville, died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, at the Good Neighbor Home, Manchester.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish rosary at 4 p.m.

She was born on Aug. 24, 1901, in Dubuque, daughter of Peter and Catherine (Buenker) Ferring. They later moved to New Vienna, where she attended St. Boniface School and later the former Visitation Academy, Dubuque.

She married Arthur Lueck on Nov. 28, 1928, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Vienna. They farmed in the Petersburg area for 34 years, until their retirement to Dyersville in 1962.

Surviving are four daughters, Lillian (Merlin) Jasper, of Manchester, Marian (David) Brunkan and Helen Witte (Dale) Bartels, both of Dyersville, and Mary Jane (Charles) Boerner, of Milwaukee, Wis.; two sons, David (Marilyn) Lueck, of Petersburg, and Dennis (Sandy) Lueck, of Dubuque; 22 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sister Marie Ferring, FSPA, of La Crosse, Wis.; and a sister-in-law, Clara Puff, of Earlville.

She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur on Feb. 7, 1983; a son-in-law, John Witte on Nov. 18, 1977; a grandchild, Mark Jasper; a great-grandchild, Thomas Rogan; three brothers, Al, Lawrence and the Rev. Clarence Ferring; and a sister, Alma Diers.

Marie was a generous and loving mother and grandmother, who always had a smile for everyone.
