DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Mrs. Harriet Goerdt, 82, of Dyersville, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish rosary at 4:30 p.m.

She was born on Aug. 15, 1917, in Wilmont, Minn., daughter of Al and Kathryn (Freking) Koopman.

She married Al Goerdt on Jan. 27, 1940, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, LeMars. After their marriage they moved to Wendell, Minn., where they farmed for 13 years. In 1953, they moved to a farm northwest of Dyersville. They retired in Dyersville in 1978. He died April 3, 1986.

She was president of Xavier Band Mothers; the Dyersville Area Hospital Auxiliary; and St. Francis Xavier Rosary Society.

Surviving are three daughters, Inez (Richard) Bartlett, of Kansas City, Mo., Eileen Hesselmann, of Des Moines, and Jean (Charles) Cecil, of Alexandria, Va.; five sons, Leon, of Manchester, Dr. Earl (Carol) Goerdt, DVM, and Russell (Dee) Goerdt, both of Dyersville, Glen (Marcia), of Bisbee, Ariz., and Alan (Lori Poock), of Sandpoint, Idaho; 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Esther Schnepf, of LeMars; and four brothers, Marcel (Marlys), Delbert (Phyllis), Les, and Mark (Bernice) Koopman, all of LeMars.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Elwood "Bud" and Wayne Koopman.
