Catherine L. Quint, 75, of Ryan, died Sunday, August 1, 2010, at home following a short illness. A funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Dennis Quint at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Blessed Trinity Cluster, Ryan. Wake from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, where there will be a 2 p.m. rosary and a funeral vigil service celebrated at 7:45 p.m. Additional visitation one hour before services at the church Wednesday. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, Ryan.

Catherine was born May 6, 1935, in Masonville, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Catherine (O’Neil) Mulvehill. She graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Ryan in 1952. On August 24, 1955, Catherine was united in marriage to Vernon Quint at the Immaculate Conception Church, Masonville.

Catherine worked as a telephone operator, secretary for ASCS office, bookkeeper for DeShaw Oil Co. and as a homemaker. She later worked at the C & S Clothing Store for 12 years and as a greeter for Bohnenkamp-Theulen and Murdoch Funeral Homes. Catherine was a Member of Catholic Order of Foresters (State Officer for 14 years), ACCW, Catholic Daughters, N.S. & Friendly Clubs and St. Patrick Catholic Church. She served on parish council and was an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, reader and CCD teacher. Catherine enjoyed her family, cooking, baking, crocheting, reading, playing cards, shopping, winters in Arizona, and cross words.

Catherine is survived by her husband, Vernon Quint of Ryan; four children, Karen of Hiawatha, Don (Lisa) of Manchester, Dick (Jane) of Ryan and the Rev. Dennis of Dyersville; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie (Jim) Broghammer of Manchester, and Eileen (Tom) Brunow of Cedar Rapids; and a brother, Don (Betty) Mulvehill of Pleasant Hill.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Catherine Mulvehill; and a sister, Peggy Mulvehill.
