James P. Akers
James P. Akers, 52, a veteran of the first World War, died of a heart attack on March 26, 1943, at Parryville, MO. The body was returned to his former home at Delhi, where a military funeral was held at the Methodist church, the Rev. Dwight Bonham officiating. Burial was made in Bay Cemetery.
Mr. Akers was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Akers, and was born in Adair county, Iowa. He was only 13 months old when his parents came to Delaware county. For a number of years Mr. Akers made his home with his sister Mrs. Verna McElmeel, near Earlville, and also at the Howard Hinman home at Oneida. He was unmarried and is survived by the sister named. Before his health failed he had been engaged in farming.
