Hopkinton Leader-Thursday-25 June 1925
Mrs. Nancy J. Huey
Sister of S. B. Lowe Died at Willamina, Oregon
From Willamina Times: Nancy Jane Lowe Huey was born near Hopkinton, Iowa, February 15, 1859 and died at her home in Willamina, Oregon, June 11. Death came very suddenly and was occasioned by heart failure. She arose from her bed at about 3 o'clock in the morning and went into another room to take some medicine to relieve her of an asthmatic attack. Not returning to her room for some time, her husband became anxious and called to her. Not receiving any response, he arose and went to where she was and found her sitting in a chair, dead. Her sudden death caused a shock to the whole community. She was 66 years, three months, and 25 days old at the time of her death.
On January 1, 1882, she was united in marriage to John B. Huey. To this union, two sons, Ray Huey of Overton, Neb., and Max Huey, Stevens Point, Wisc., and one daughter, Mrs. A. J. Hendrix of Vancouver, Wash., were born. These with four grandchildren and two brothers, S. B. Lowe of Hopkinton, Iowa and E. G. Lowe of Milwaukie, Ore., remain to mourn their loss.
Mr. and Mrs. Huey have spent many years in Oregon and have resided in Willamina for the past eleven years. While here, Mrs. Huey has been an active member of the Methodist church which she joined, with her daughter, about twenty-six years ago. Her presence at the services and her help in all the church activities will be greatly missed by the fellowship here. She has ever lived a kindly, consistent Christian life, has been a loving wife and mother, and a helpful, sympathetic neighbor and friend in the entire community. Her great host of friends in Willamina, feel that they have lost a friend whose place will never filled.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church, Monday morning at 10:30, Rev. Cook officiating. The remains were taken from here to Vancouver, Wash., where she was laid to rest in the Park Hill cemetery. Rev. Cook accompanied the body to its final resting place. Many beautiful floral tributes at the funeral attested the high esteem in which the departed one was held. The services were in charge of the Thomas undertaking parlors of Sheridan.
