Charles R. "Chuck" Stone (1923-2009)
Edgewood-Charles Rex "Chuck" Stone, 86, of Edgewood, died Monday, Dec. 14, at Regional Medical Center, Manchester.
He was born Aug. 11, 1923 in Edgewood, son of Charles H. and Caroline Curran Stone. He married Jennie Every on May 1, 1942, in Cedar Rapids. She died in 1983. He married Neva Nolte on Aug 11, 1984, in Cedar Rapids.
Mr. Stone attended Edgewood High School and had farmed. He also was a bus mechanic for the Edgewood-Colesburg school, retiring in 1988.
Survived by: his wife; two sons, Curtis (Barb) of Edgewood and Charles (Pam) Stone of Fredericksburg; a daughter, Carol (Pat) Stone of Edgewood; two stepdaughters, Jody (Larry) Lippmann of Cedar Rapids and Judy (Jay) Hartman of Mechanicsville, a stepson, Jeffery Nolte of Davenport; nine grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: a stillborn daughter, Mary; a granddaughter; five sisters, Hildred Meyer, Thelma Estling, Madge Kuehl, Juanita White, Zelda Brown; and a brother, Edgar.
Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hope Lutheran Church, Littleport, with private family inurnment in Green Hill Cemetery, Edgewood. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home, Edgewood.
