Funeral Today For Mrs. Edith Powell of Delhi
Mrs. Edith Powell, 82, resident of the Delhi vicinity all her life, died at her home in Delhi Tuesday morning. Death was due to suicide by hanging.
Funeral services will be held at the Clifton funeral home in Earlville at 1:30 p.m. today (Thursday), with the Rev. Joseph Mason officiating. Burial will be made in Evergreen cemetery.
Edith Meister, daughter of Albert and Emmerett McCormick Meister, was born at Delhi Oct. 16, 1887. She was married to Lonnie Powell Jan. 10, 1904, at Manchester. Mrs. Powell was a member of the Delhi Methodist church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Tillie, and four brothers, Myron, Ray, Eugene, and Roy Meister.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Vernice Fear, of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Harry (Eve) McCalley of Winthrop, two brothers John Meister of Delhi and Carl Meister of Independence and other relatives.
