Sylvia Emma, daughter of Wiliam and Almyra Wilson Snyder, was born in Mahaska County, Iowa, Sept. 6, 1884, and died July 11, 1977, at Westview Acres, Leon, Iowa, where she lived 4 1/2 years, age 92 years, 10 months, and 5 days.

On Oct. 28, 1903, she was united in marriage to John Henry (Harry) Zook. They had five daughters: Helen, Lois, Margaret, Gladys, and Harriet.

Sylvia was a member of the United Church of Garden Grove. She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harry; five brothers: Walter, Dwight, Carl, Harry, and Glenn; sister, Hazel; son-in-law, Keith Kimberlin; infant grandson, Joseph Sponsler; and granddaughter-in-law Nelle Strong.

Survivors include five daughters: Helen Peterson and husband, Earl, Hillsboro, Ill.; Lois Strong and husband, Kendall, Indianola, Iowa; Margaret Kimberlin, Ames, Iowa; Gladys Smith and husband, Donald, Garden Grove, Iowa; and Harriet Swain and husband, Lyle, Dallas Center, Iowa; four sisters-in-law: Zoa Blakesley and Etel, Maude, and Mildred Snyder; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; eight grand-in-laws; nieces and nephews.
