Mrs. Sabina Pierce, an old and highly respected resident of this city, died at the family home at Cainesville, Mo., Saturday, Jan. 15, 1916, after an illness of some weeks with typhoid fever.
She was born of John and Nancy Jones, in Ohio, Dec. 15, 1844. From Ohio the family moved to Indana where the mother died when the subject of this sketch was about four years old. She came to Iowa in 1864 locating near Lamoni.
On Oct. 22, 1890, she was united in marriage to Evermont Booth, of this city. He passed away, Dec. 31, 1897. On April 26, 1900, she was married to S. H. Pierce, of this city, who passed away Jan. 30, 1907. No children were born of either marriage.
The deceased leaves to mourn her death an aged step-mother, Sarah S. Jones, of Davis City, Iowa, one full sister, Margaret Wion, of Little Rock, Ark., four half-sisters, Mariah Payton, wife of J. H. Payton, Kellerton, Iowa Anna Spurrier, wife of F. O. Spurrier, of Scotts Bluff, Neb. Jane Boeger, wife of J. R. Boeger, of Davis City, Iowa Lizzie Brooks of Davis City, Iowa J. M. Jones, of Davis City, Iowa.
She united with the Christian church shortly after coming to Cainesville and has lived a consistent christian life to the end. She died in the triumphs of a living faith.
Funeral services were conducted from the Christian church at 11 a. m. Jan. 24, after which the remains were shipped to Davis City, Iowa, for interment. The services were conducted by Rev. Henry Esch, of Leon, Iowa, former pastor of the church, in the presence of a large and sympathetic audience of relatives and former friends.
A truly noble woman is gone to her reward, peace to her ashes.
